    Location in Spec PD03
Problem Summary PD03 may be interpreted too narrowly
Problem Text PD03 states that "Candidates are required to maintain their vertical
industry knowledge (e.g., telecoms, financial, etc.)."

This has been incorrectly interpreted to mean that Candidates are
expected to specialise and remain in a particular vertical. Many architects
are required to move between different industries when they move to a
new engagement, therefore PD03 may be seen as difficut to meet.

The intent of PD03 is to ensure that Certified IT Architects routinely
acquire and maintain knowedge of the industries in which they are
working in order to be able to address their clients' needs in their
    business context.

At level 1, candidates are required to show how they have developed
their industry knowledge as well as how they have maintained it once
    acquired

At level 2 we look for maintainence of industry knowledge, but there is no
requirement to show how industry knowledge is acquired. This is to
ensure IT Architects who do specialise in one vertical industry are not
exluded. Candidates who have moved between industry verticals are
expected to show how they have leaned and maintained their knowledge
    of the new verticals

Candidates are not required to maintain knowledge of industry sectors in
    which they no longer work

The Specification Authority should consider clarifying this in a future
    release of the Conformance Requirements

    Level 1
Candidates are required to develop and maintain an understanding of the
clients business as it pertains to the clients vertical industry (e.g.
telecoms, financial, etc.). Candidates should endeavor to sustain this
learning process during the time they are engaged with a client or
produce architectures that are industry specific.

    Level 2
Candidates are required to maintain an understanding of the clients
business as it pertains to their vertical industry (e.g. telecoms, financial,
etc.). Candidates should be aware of the latest trends and techniques
that may influence IT architectures for their customers within industry
verticals. Candidates should endeavor to sustain this learning process
during the time they are engaged with a client or produce architectures
    that are industry specific.
