TOGAF 8 Training |
Certification Program |
TOGAF Certified by The Open Group |
Problem Summary |
The TOGAF 8 TRAINING Product Standard fails to mention the minimum
duration of the course |
Problem Description [CSC template]
|
The Open Group Architecture Forum has always considered that an
instructor-led TOGAF training course that leads to successful trainees
becoming TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED should have a minimum duration of four days.
A similar number of study hours would be required where remote means of
delivery are involved. This intent is not covered anywhere in the TOGAF
8 TRAINING Product Standard.
As it stands the certification process could even be abused by trainers
providing a quick one-day run through the subject matter listed in the
CSQ and then granting certification. |

Review Response |
Since the matter relates to content of the Product Standard, which is a
company approved document this should be referred to the Architecture
Forum to rule on. |

Interpretation (INT) |
Review Conclusion |
An interpretation (INT) should be granted.
It is agreed that this is an error in the Product Standards, and that
they should be updated through the corrigenda process, with the changes
applied to the current versions of the Product Standards.
The TOGAF Training Product Standard should be updated to state a
requirement that a conforming course be at least 4 days in duration
(assuming a 7 hour day) and that distance learning require an equivalent
number of hours of study.
The TOGAF 8 Certified Product Standard should be updated
to explicitly state that the course duration be at least 4 days.
A consequence of these changes is that existing TOGAF 8 Training
course providers who have 3-day courses will need to update them to 4
day courses. |
