Problem Text The test uses an expect script to send commands to the shell from vi including, for example, this one and several other that contain embeded '#' characters: :!echo vi_33.08 >> vi_out_33_1 \#comment The expect script includes the line: set stty_init "-echo" Which makes the assumption that '#' is not used as a terminal control character. If for example the erase chacter is set to '#', the test will fail. We have run the test with the expect script line above set to set stty_init "-echo erase ^H" and the test passes. We suggest modifying the test so that fewer assumptions are made concerning the initial state of the terminal when using expect.
