Specification Shell and Utilities Issue 6
Location in Spec cp utility description
Problem Summary cp command handling of symbolic links when -R is specified
Problem Text In the description of the cp utility, it says:
    * If the -R option was specified:
If none of the options -H, -L, nor -P were specified, it
is unspecified which of -H, -L, or -P will be used as a
    default.

In the description section that begins: "For each source file, the
    following steps ..."
    Step 4 b iii says:
If source_file is a file of type symbolic link, the pathname contained
in dest_file shall be the same as the pathname contained in source_file.

This is mandating the -P behavior for symbolic links.

Does this override the default being "unspecified"?

If -L (or -H) is specified, does this override the step 4 b iii
behavior? (That is, is the symbolic link chain followed before
source_file is checked for a type of symbolic link?)
