Problem Report Number 2372 Submitter's Classification Test Suite problem State Resolved Resolution Permanent Interpretation (PIN) Problem Resolution ID PIN.X.0274 Raised 2004-05-12 22:15 Updated 2004-05-13 01:21 Published 2004-05-13 01:21 Product Standard Commands and Utilities V4 (UNIX 03) Certification Program The Open Brand certification program Test Suite VSC version 5.2.5 Test Identification POSIX.upe/vi 250 Specification Shell and Utilities Issue 6 Location in Spec 39164 in SUSv3 TC2 pdf. Problem Summary Expected output of Test is incorrect, due to accepted enhancement request. Problem Text XCU-ERN 12 has changed the requirements for the vi P command, the new
spec wording is
If the buffer text is in character mode:
1. If the text in the buffer is from more than a single line, then set
to the last column on which any portion of the first character from
the buffer is displayed.
2. If the buffer is the unnamed buffer, set to the last column on
which any portion of the last character from the buffer is
displayed.
3. Otherwise, set to the first column on which any portion of the first
character from the buffer is displayed.
This makes the expected output wrong because it expecting the current
cursor position after the P operation to be at the wrong location. Per
1) it should be at the beginning of the inserted text after the P operation.Test Output
