    the test SEGV's because the array vdata has a max of 4 elements (NVAL
    is set to 4). then the test checks for 5 array elements, incrementing
    the array index with each hit...and overruns the array boundry. the
    fifth element "_SC_2_FORT_RUN" has no purpose in this code and probably
    should be removed.
