    Resolution Test Suite Deficiency (TSD)
    Problem Resolution ID TSD.X.0676
    Raised 1970-01-01 08:00
    Updated 2003-03-13 08:00

Certification Program The Open Brand certification program
    Test Suite VSU version 4.1.0
    Test Identification Base/wait3 2
Problem Summary TSD4U.00139 This test may fail on implementations with high clock speeds and fast execution times.
    Problem Text
This test may fail on high performance machine.

This test executes the 'for' loop to consume user CPU time
    of the child process.
If the user time used by this child process
is less than the resolution of CPU time accounting ( clock tick ),
the ru_utime of child's resource usage becomes 0 and this test fails.
    Test Output
    TEST CASE: wait3

    TEST PURPOSE #2
    A successful call to pid_t wait3(int *stat_loc, int
options, struct rusage *resource_usage) when a child
process has changed state prior to the call shall
immediately return the process id of the child process
(after placing the child's resource usage in the
    structure pointed to by resource_usage).
PREP: fork() a child that returns shortly
    TEST: wait3
    TEST: Calling process returned immediately
    TEST: Rusage stats returned
ERROR: Rusage stats not returned. ru_utime.tv_sec = 0
TEST: wait3() returned process id of child
    2 FAIL

    Review Response
We agree this is a test suite deficiency in the test
    suite version(s) listed.

We believe wait3 test purpose 1 may also exhibit this
behavior but no waiver for this can be recommended without
    output demonstrating the failure.
