    Updated 2003-03-13 08:00
    Published 1996-03-31 08:00
Product Standard Commands and Utilities V2 (UNIX 95)
Certification Program The Open Brand certification program
    Test Suite VSC version 4.1.4
    Test Identification POSIX.cmd/stty/stty.ex 8
Problem Summary TSD4C.00175 This test may fail if the terminal the test is run on does not support setting split input/output baud rates.
    Problem Text
This test may fail if the terminal the test is run on does not
support setting split input/output baud rates.

POSIX.1 and XPG4 do not mandate support for split input/output baud
rates for the tcsetattr system interface (see 1003.1b-1993 7.2.1.2,
    page 183 and XSH4 Version 2, page 653).
    .br
POSIX.2 and XPG4 do not mandate support for split input/output baud
rates for the stty utility (see 1003.2-1992 4.49.41., page 438 and
XCU4 Version 2, page 665). Additionally, "It is unspecified whether
stty will report an error if an attempt to set a Control Mode fails".
In the case where the underlying HW (asynchronous tty adapter) does
not support split speeds, it is not possible to construct a test
which is guaranteed to work under these conditions.
    .br
Making the assumption that the majority of asynchronous tty HW does
not support split baud rates, because the functionality is not really
required for alpha-numeric terminals, and in view of the fact that
there is no current interpretation for this problem, I suppose that
test suite reports have been produced using work station type
platforms where the HW does have support. Most of our HW platforms
    do not have native VGA.
    .br
Running VSC4 on a pseudo-tty (e.g., rlogin), this stty command is
supported, but it is not, I believe, acceptable to show conformance
without running on a classical, asynchronous tty.
    Test Output
    /tset/POSIX.cmd/stty/stty.ex 1 Failed

    Test Information:
    Assertion #8 (C):
Command failed: 'grep -q 'ispeed 9600 baud; ospeed 2400 baud;'
    stty_8_out'
