    Problem Report Number 0792
    Submitter's Classification Test Suite problem
    State Resolved
    Resolution Test Suite Deficiency (TSD)
    Problem Resolution ID TSD.X.0307
    Raised 1970-01-01 08:00
    Updated 2003-03-13 08:00
    Published 1997-09-11 08:00
    Product Standard Commands and Utilities V2 (UNIX 95)
    Certification Program The Open Brand certification program
    Test Suite VSC version 5.0.0
    Test Identification POSIX.cmd/awk 384
    Problem Summary TSD4C.00204 This test may fail on implementations where INT_MAX is more than DBL_DIG digits in length since atof() cannot preserve more than DBL_DIG digits of precision.
    Problem Text
    This test will fail on implementations where both an int and a double are
    64-bits long. It is not possible to store a 64-bit INT_MAX or UINT_MAX in
    a 64-bit double without losing precision. The description for awk states:

    "A string value will be converted to a numeric value by the equivalent of
    the following calls to functions defined by the ISO C standard:

    setlocale(LC_NUMERIC, "");
    numeric_value = atof(string_value);
