Problem Text
This test may fail on implementations because multiprocessor
scheduling may result in the ed.hup file being checked for existence
before the ed process has created the ed.hup file and exited.
In this test, an expect process starts an ed session, sends a SIGHUP
to the ed session and then checks to see if the ed session creates the
necessary ed.hup file.
The outcome depends on whether ed process has control after the SIGHUP
is sent or if the expect process has control. On a multiprocessor
system, processor scheduling order of the two processes makes this an issue.
When the expect process has control, it finishes and the shell script
immediately checks for the existence of the ed.hup file, possibly
before the ed process had time to create the ed.hup file and exit as
it should.
When the ed process gains control first, the ed.hup file gets created
before the main test tries to check for the file.Test Output
