    Problem Text
X/Open Commands and Utilities, Issue 4, section 1.3.4, lists the cancel
and lpstat utilities as "Possibly Unsupportable".

The lp utility is required to write a "unique ID" to standard output,
that is associated with the print request. This unique ID is for use
on subsequent cancel or lpstat invocations.

Shouldn't the unique ID requirement on lp be marked "Possibly
    Unsupportable" (like cancel and lpstat)?

    Review Response
"The cancel and lpstat commands are identified as possibly unsupportable. In
order for them ever to be supportable, a suitable id needs to be provided by
the lp command. While a prima facie case can be made for making this aspect
of the lp command also possibly unsupportable, it would introduce a complex
dependency. One of the reasons why cancel and lpstat are marked as possibly
unsupportable is that the printer may be under the control of another
operating system on another machine. The lp command should function the same
regardless of the location of the printer, and it has no way of knowing
whether or not the id can be used. This implies that lp must always return
an id for use where possible. No change should be made to the specification."
