Problem Text
The X/Open echo "-n" option semantics are not required by POSIX 1003.2.
The POSIX spec states
The following operands shall be supported by the implementation:
string A string to be written to standard output. If the first
operand is a "-n" or if any of the operands contain
a backslash (\) character, the results are
implementation defined.
But the X/Open spec states
The following operands are supported:
string A string to be written to standard output. If any
operand is "-n", it will be treated as a string, not
an option.
It seems to us that this creats a grey area inthe spec.Test Output

We recommend this request be refused.
We believe the POSIX.2 and X/Open standards are muitually consistent.
The POSIX spec defines use of -n as implementation specific.
The X/Open spec takes advantage of this flexibility in the POSIX
spec to mandate the -n semantics on XCU compliant platforms.
If an IUT is being X/Open branded it must conform to the XCU mandated
behavior.
