    Problem Text
    The test for vi #87 fails on our implementation because the test
    creates an expected output file with a hardcoded ASCII value. Our
    implementation is EBCDIC based, and the ESC character has a different
    hex representation.

    The escape character inserted into the expected output file is
    /033, which is an ASCII ESC (hex x/1b). The hex value for the
    EBCDIC ESC character is x/27.
