    Problem Text
The reported FIPS is occurring with our NFS V3 implementation. Our readlink()
has returned NFSERR_NXIO since the initial porting of V3 to our system. We
have not received any customer complaints or problems reports on this return
value. Thus we believe this to be little used functionality and have minimal
    portability concerns.

    /tset/XNFS.prtl/proto/readlnk/T.readlnk 2 Further Information
    Provided

    Test Description:
    For XNFS Issue 4:
If the server supports symbolic links:
When fhandle does not refer to a symbolic link, then a call to
    NFSPROC_READLINK(fhandle) returns NFSERR_NXIO.
For XNFS version 3 and 3W:
If the server supports symbolic links:
When fhandle does not refer to a symbolic link, then a call to
    NFSPROC_READLINK(fhandle) returns NFSERR_INVAL.

    Test Information:
    NFSPROC_READLINK returned status <6>
    - this is correct for XNFS version 2 (Issue 4)
    - for XNFS version 3 or 3W it should be <22>

    Review Recommendation No Resolution Given
    Review Response
Although the test result is a FIP, since this interpretation request is
for the "Internet Server" product standard, which references the XNFS
version 3W specification, the result does indicate a non-compliance
    with the specification.

The behaviour exhibited in the test is common historical practice,
and so a temporary waiver for a minor system fault is recommended.
