This problem has previously been recognized as a grey area in the
XPG3 specification and has not changed in XPG4. A permanent waiver
was granted.
POSIX 1003.1-1990 states on page 135 line 280 and XPG4 System Interface
Defintions, Issue 4 on page 118 section 9.1.11 that "The last process
to close a terminal device file causes output to be sent to the device
and any input to be discarded". VSX tests this in the case that output has
previously been suspended by a call to tcflow(), in which case it expects
that the close will allow output to be restarted. A question has been raised
as to whether this is required in these circumstances or whether it is
admissable for the data to be discarded.Test Output
